Reserving Residential Common Area Spaces
Residential common areas are often used as venues for student organization events and residence hall programs. The amenities within common areas differ between spaces and groups requesting space should be mindful of the fire code capacity of a room before attempting to book space. Please keep the following in mind when placing a space request:
- Events directly related to the residential students in that area receive the highest priority for space reservations.
- All requests MUST be recieved at least 7 days prior to the event. This time is necessary to allow us to notify other units and people impacted by the space usage.
- Amplified sound is allowed in the outdoor spaces on Fridays from 5 pm - 2 am, Saturdays from 1 pm - 2 am, and Sundays from 6 pm - 10 pm. Amplified sound is not allowed inside the residence halls unless specifically approved by the Assistant Dean for that area.
- Groups using space may be charged for if excessive clean-up is needed after the event or if facilities are damaged.
- In most cases, groups are responsible for their own set-up and break down. We generally do not have staff available to set up tables and chairs in advance of events.
- Groups that need additional resources such as AV equipment may be directed to other university providers for their needs.
