Residence Life and Housing Services works to make each student's residential experience positive; we want to help you make this home. While RLHS will strive to provide outstanding living and learning experiences, it is the student's responsibility to be familiar with and understand the community expectations.

Students in residence halls exercise the responsibility of self-governance through the understanding and practice of the community expectations. Duke University students are guaranteed certain rights by the constitution and by the university. As in any society, rights come with responsibilities. Within the campus community certain recognized rights and responsibilities are equally applicable to every student and promote conditions favorable to a living and learning community. Students bear primary responsibility for seeing that their own and other students’ rights are not violated.
