Pegram
Pegram residence hall is home to approximately 125 First Year students on Duke's East Campus. Opening in 1927, the building was named for William H. Pegram '73, a Trinity College chemistry professor for 55 years. Pegram was a faculty member who moved with Trinity College from Randolph County to Durham. Like all other halls on campus, Pegram is co-ed, with male and female students living on the same floor. Pegram is staffed by one Graduate Resident and five Resident Assistants under the supervision of Residence Coordinator Philip Duhart.
The Faculty-in-Residence Program is one of the ways in which Duke University seeks to facilitate, strengthen, and expand interaction between faculty members and undergraduates beyond the classroom. The Pegram Faculty-in-Residence is Hsiao-Mei Ku, Associate Professor of the Practice of Music and Member of Ciompi Quartet. Pegram is home to the Peforming Arts Living/Learning Community. The original idea for this community came from Professor Ku. The intent of the Peforming Arts Community is to give first-year students exposure to the both Duke and Durham arts including music, dance, theatre, and much more.
