Residential Leadership on East Campus
House Councils
The House Councils are the governing body of each house. The House Councils serve the dual purpose of planning activities for the house, administering the house budget, making major house purchases, and representing the opinions of residents to the house leadership. House Council elections occur at the beginning of the fall semester. The House Councils consist of an executive board (including a president, vice president, and communications coordinator) and several other representatives who are in charge of social programming and the Devils After Dark events. The House Councils meet weekly with their advisor.
Early fall semester, all 170 House Council representatives attend the Fall Leadership Retreat. At the retreat, each House Council will choose executive officers and will participate in teambuilding and goal setting activities including some beach time!
As a collective, the House Councils plan about 100 events each year. Below are a few examples of some of the activities:
- Backyard BBQ
- Trip to paintball range
- Late night ice cream socials
- "What's up Wednesdays"
- "Prom" formal
- Mr. East Campus competition
- Epworth Haunted House
