Early Release from License for Spring 2010

Due to an increased demand for on-campus housing for Spring 2010, we are offering graduate and professional students the opportunity to cancel their Spring housing license.

We want to be clear that no one will be forced off-campus.  Students who wish to remain in on-campus housing for the duration of their license will be able to do so.

Graduate and professional students who wish to cancel their housing should submit their request to do so by October 7, 2009.  We will respond to requests on a rolling basis by confirming with the student that his/her housing has been cancelled and then contacting any remaining roommates to advise them of this change.  Students who cancel their Spring 2010 housing will vacate their apartment no later than Noon on Monday, December 14th.

We expect that there will be situations where one roommate decides to move off-campus and another prefers to remain on-campus.  We feel it is important to keep graduate students paired with each other, both for your benefit and to create opportunities to pair undergraduates in available apartments.

If your roommate cancels his/her housing, you will have the following options:

  • Request another graduate or professional student as a new roommate.  Visit the roommate finder to post your information or search for a roommate.
  • Remain on-campus, understanding that you will either be given a new graduate student roommate or be reassigned to live with another graduate student.

The deadline to let us know if you have a preferred roommate is October 14, 2009. If you are reassigned to a new apartment or if you are receiving a new roommate, we will inform you in early November.

Update 9/17/09:  We will be hosting an off-campus housing fair for graduate students.  The fair will be at 218D Alexander (the RLHS conference room, near the Housing Accommodations office) on Tuesday, September 29, from 4pm-6pm.

Representatives from the following will attend:

  • Washburn Court Apartments
  • Campus Oaks Condominiums

  • Campus Walk Apartments
