Graduate and Professional Student Housing
Housing accommodations are in the University's Central Campus Facilities. Central Campus facilities are conveniently located between Duke University's East and West Campuses and are adjacent to the Medical Center. Space available for graduate and professional students is limited. We are able to accommodate both international and a very small number of domestic students. All students who request University Housing are strongly encouraged to apply early. On-campus housing cannot be guaranteed for more than the upcoming academic year.
Many times, assignments for graduate students are made into partially occupied apartments. Because these apartments are not fully vacated, the Central Campus RLHS Office staff is unable to enter the apartments to clean them prior to a new occupant's arrival. Please be aware that housekeeping habits may differ greatly and even though a new roommate notice is given to the remaining apartment occupant(s), the cleanliness of the apartment is not guaranteed by the Central Campus RLHS Office.
Graduate student housing is provided within an undergraduate complex. No distinction is made between married and single graduate students in the allocation of housing. Married applicants must submit a copy of the marriage license along with the housing application. Same-sex spousal equivalents (partners), in accordance with University policy, should register this relationship with the Benefits Office of Human Resources and include a copy of the completed affidavit in order to be considered eligible for University housing.
