Wellness on West - Catch it!
More than just substance-free!
The Wellness Community on West is a vibrant community of learners with a shared commitment to the pursuit of a healthy, well-balanced, and purposeful lifestyle. Members not only wish to live in a quiet, substance-free environment, they also actively participate together in a variety of social and educational activities within and outside of the residence hall. Wellness Community members are encouraged to examine their own attitudes and behaviors with the support of faculty and staff who are experts in a variety of health-related fields.

Members of the Wellness Community on West will have the opportunity to:
• Build friendships with students who have similar interests and goals.
• Participate in a variety of social and educational activities within and outside of the residence hall beyond what is offered in a typical residential community.
• Network with faculty and staff who are experts in a variety of health-related fields, including fitness, nutrition, and personal well-being.
• Examine current attitudes and behaviors in order to develop a personal plan for achieving a healthy, well-balanced, and purposeful lifestyle.
• Run for a leadership position on the Wellness Activities Board, which serves as a representative and programming body for the community.
• Live in a quiet, substance-free community on West campus.
Wellness Community Standards and Conditions of Membership
As active members of the Wellness Community on West, students will be expected to:
• Abstain from the use, possession, and distribution of alcohol, tobacco, and illegal substances both within and outside of the physical community. This includes proper management of prescription medications. Students are also responsible for the behavior of their guests visiting the Wellness Community.
• Observe Quiet Hours each evening from midnight to 7:00am. Again, students are also responsible for the behavior of their guests visiting the Wellness Community.
• Establish a personal goal each semester that embraces the learning community’s holistic approach to wellness.
• Support other community members in their efforts to lead healthy, well-balanced, and purposeful lives.
• Participate in Wellness events at least four times each semester.
• Engage in the development of the community by helping to plan activities, personalize common spaces, recruit potential new members, etc.
• Attend mandatory Wellness Community meetings after selection and at the beginning of each semester.
