Living and Learning at Duke

Living on campus suggests something special about you…that you are interested in doing well as a student and, also, that you are interested in taking advantage of the benefits available in a living and learning environment. As a member of our community you agree to and support the community standards, which are in place to protect the rights of all community members. Learning how to live in and contribute positively to a community takes personal effort and time. Our staff is here to assist you in this process and we encourage you to seek them out as resources.

Duke University offers numerous opportunities for interested students to partake in intentionally designed Living/Learning Communities. These communities incorporate the residential component of the college experience in with other academic and social pursuits. While membership in these groups is may be limited, activities offered are often open to the general student population. Several communities are specifically designed for first-year students (FY) while others are for upperclass students. Living in our communities affords you many wonderful opportunities and we hope you will take advantage of them.

Some of these communities include:

Learning Communities:
Performing Arts (FY)
Baldwin Scholars
East Campus Wellness (FY)
The Focus Program
West Campus Wellness

Selective Living Groups for upperclass students.
